Our attorneys are used to “thinking outside the box” and working together interdisciplinary beyond their areas of expertise to obtain the best results.
GERMAN DESK
Without a doubt, one of our specialties is the German market.
Four of our firm partners and with more than twenty German -speaking team members, we can make sure you benefit from our “black-red-gold” work mentality that ensures satisfactory, punctual, successful and “just like at home” partnership.
EUROPEAN PATENT OPPOSITION
European patents are supposed to be granted for inventions that comply with certain requirements; for example, they must be novel and involve an inventive step, and the application must disclose the invention sufficiently clearly and completely for the skilled person to be able to carry it out, without undue burden, throughout the scope of the claims. It is a question of quid pro quo.
That is the theory. In practice, however, this can be a lot more complex.
COMPUTER IMPLEMENTED INVENTIONS
A large number of inventions have only an electromechanical component, but many others connect to the field of computers, and that is mainly due to the great technological advancements of the last decades.
Some inventions in this field are fully computational, meaning that no aspect of the invention is a physical object or part of a process that occurs outside of a computer.
AVAILABILITY SEARCHES
There are several important reasons for an Availability Search of a potential trademark: most important is to ensure that the mark is available for registration before use and the other is to avoid unintentional infringement of another’s mark.
In general, a search cannot be done too early in the development of a product or service to ensure your competitive edge in the existing market.
