Equipment sales are very important for clubs, but few register their designs
Currently, only a few clubs register their designs, but IP experts recommend protecting as many elements of the jersey as possible, such as the club crest, logos and sponsors’ names, as registering the full design can provide clearer and broader protection. Óscar García, partner at BALDER, comments on this issue in an article published by El País: “it is foreseeable that the fans of a team will vote for the design of the jerseys to last, and in such a case the registered designs will have more importance.”
