Óscar García

In 1993, after graduating from the Madrid Complutense University, Óscar joined the Trademark Department of one of the major Spanish IP Law firms.  After years of hard work and after proving to have the right attitude and aptitude, Óscar became the head of the department and a partner in the firm, where he stayed until he decided to join the BALDER project.

Óscar deals with all aspects of prosecution in relation to trademarks, but with a special focus on Spanish and Community Trademarks. Although he left his files at his former office, his knowledge and experience is now at BALDER.

Apart from his work as a trademark consultant, Óscar frequently lectures on trademark related topics. He has also collaborated in the edition of several magazines and manuals focused on IP, including Factbook:  Propiedad Industrial (Thomson – Aranzadi) and Practitioner’s Manual for Trademark Prosecution and Litigation in the EU (Sweet & Maxwell).

Óscar is an active INTA member, chairing table topics, being part of committees and collaborating as a Spanish contributor to the International  Opposition Guide.

In his spare time, Òscar enjoys playing tennis or riding his mountain-bike with friends, throughout the countryside. He also likes reading, especially books on modern history. And, of course, travelling.

While enjoying spending time and relaxing with his family, Òscar would get bored without new challenges. Hopefully, the BALDER project will keep boredom out of Óscar’s life for the next decade!
