Eva Sánchez graduated in Biology by the University Complutense of Madrid in 2001, specialized in Neurobiology. Due to her high interest in the scientific research, she decided to embark on a doctorate and in 2008, Eva obtained a PhD in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology and Biomedicine by the University Autónoma of Madrid.
After finishing her thesis, Eva changed her professional career as scientific research, to avoid the job uncertainty surrounding this technical field, and she started in the world of Industrial Property. Since 2008 se has worked for two different IP firms in Madrid, as a Patent Consultant, specialized in the field of Biotechnology and Biomedicine. Her work there was mainly focused on the drafting and prosecution of patent applications before different national/regional Patent Offices, but also included the preparation of prior art searches and reports on patentability, validity and risk of infringement, for Universities, Public Research Institutes, Centers & Units, Hospitals, as well as for small companies, such as start-ups, and for large corporations.
The profession as a Patent Consultant, has provided to Eva the opportunity to follow in direct contact with the research field, being able to use her scientific and technical knowledge, in combination with the legal and client-facing aspects of the job, which immediately appealed to her. This work allows her to be in close communication with inventors which, on the one hand, helps her to understand the though process and how the invention works and, on the other hand, help them to navigate through the arduous patent system, often in many different countries and get a patent for their invention.
For Eva, the most interesting thing about this job is the variety of the work and allows her to be at the ‘bleeding edge’ of technology development. Talking to clients, inventors, and foreign attorneys, responding to patent offices around the globe, drafting new applications, reports,… and developing your skills as an Patent Consultant, make every single day different and with a new intellectual and professional challenge.
Having the experience as a Patent consultant, she joined BALDER in February 2020.
In addition to Spanish, she speaks English fluently.
In her free time, Eva enjoys spending time with her family and friends, doing sport and going hiking in the mountains. Moreover, she loves reading and enjoying the wide Madrid´s cultural offer.
